Since its founding by Carl and Mieke Bouckaert in 1978, Beaulieu of America has consistently if quietly distinguished itself among carpet makers. The company is the world's largest provider of indoor/outdoor carpets and the undisputed world leader in woven rugs -- overall, the world's third largest and largest privately owned carpet manufacturer. It was the first of the Dalton-based majors to commit to its own extrusion plants and remains the most vertically integrated of carpet companies, controlling the development process from the manufacture of the polypropylene resins that are extruded to make fibers.
